California Hotels and Attractions

California: The Sunshine State. The Land of Milk of Honey. These names aren’t just lip service. California is truly one of the most beautiful and fun-filled places in the world. But with so much to see and do, beginning to plan a trip can be intimidating. That’s why we’re happy to help with a bit more information about the Golden State!

Almost synonymous with California is Los Angeles. The city of stars, any movie buff should check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame, movie studios and other tinsel town attractions. As you move toward the coast, your worries will instantly melt away as you envision the beach lifestyle.

There is so much more to California, though. To the south, there is San Diego, one of the country’s most beautiful cities and a destination for any naval buff. To the north, techies will love a visit to San Jose, the "capital of Silicon Valley." San Francisco is full of unmistakable sights like the Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman’s Wharf. If you’re able to take the drive along the Pacific Coast Highway, getting from point to point will be as enjoyable as the activities there.

And the activities California offers are endless. Enjoy some of the world’s best wines in Napa Valley, then marvel at the world’s largest trees and stunning formations in California’s many national parks. There are amusement parks and museums galore for family fun. Meanwhile, lovers can enjoy nature-surrounded spas and resorts as well as cuisine from around the world.

Looking to get your blood pumping? Surf, swim, or scuba dive in the crystal-clear waters of the Pacific Ocean. There’s always somewhere to hike, run or bike. Don’t worry – if you prefer a stroll to a sprint, both natural and urban areas are extremely walkable.

It’s easy to see California is a special place with much to offer. To help you figure out where in the state speaks most to you, here’s some more information on this west coast wonder.

I had a great experience here. Staff was always attentive. Modern rooms and bed was so comfortable. Great location to stage your LA visit from Elevator Hacker Tip, get off on floor 31 then walk to elevators that go all the way down I was on floor 36 and took stairs to 31 for the most efficient egress

Given the busyness of NYE and the hotel being at capacity, we really enjoyed our stay! The room wasn't the correct room but for the room I received was nice and spacious. The evening reception was actually pretty nice. Great people to mingle with, overall good crowd. The breakfast was nice and the service staff all were really helpful. I would definitely stay again, perhaps on slower day and/or when the construction is done. I'm sure it'll be a top notch place to stay in downtown San Diego.

I've been staying at this hotel every year at the same time since 2004. There are other options at this beach community, but I have chosen the Blue Sea Beach Hotel because their rooms are very comfortable, the staff is very friendly and the pricing is very reasonable. Because I've stayed here annually for so many years they upgrade my room at a lower rate and every year I return, they are always making improvements to the property. Hat's off to their General Manager Aron, Nick the Assistant General Manager and Natalie the Supervisor of Guest Services. EXCELLENT JOB!!

Rooms are pretty nice. Was told my room was remodeled recently. One of the best Hyatt gyms I've been too. Only thing I didn't like, you have to go outside and walk along the street to get to the gym.

This was one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time. The staff was very friendly and the services were more than adequate. They have a free laundry room for use with 4 washers and 4 dryers. Also, we had several nights a week that we had a free dinner with free drinks (beer & wine), which was very nice. The hotel was clean through and through. One of the cleaning staff, Joseph, ran twice to get us supplies for our room on a Sunday. What a place to stay!

Things To Do In California

California Beaches

California’s beautiful beaches are naturally a high point of any visit. With all that Pacific Ocean coastline, your options are endless! With its warmer waters, Southern California’s beaches tend to be the stars. Venice Beach and Santa Monica add an almost carnival atmosphere to their lengthy strips of beach. Hermosa Beach’s 1.5 mile-long beach is a hotspot for watersports and beach activities. At Laguna and Newport Beach, you may just run into a celebrity or two while tanning.

Northern California, meanwhile, has some of the most picturesque beaches in the country. Fort Funston Beach, Ross Cove Beach and the Bodega Dunes boast beautiful natural landscapes and excellent hiking. At the same time, you can enjoy a classic California beach day. Swimmers and surfers alike love locales like Seaside Beach and Santa Cruz.

Big Sur Coastline

Big Sur is a 90-mile stretch of rugged coastline between Carmel and San Simeon. Lucky for California drivers, Highway One twists alongside this spectacularly scenic portion of the Pacific. The cliffs and rocks on the ocean side are a sight to behold. On the other side, the Santa Lucia Mountains provide more eye candy. Sweeping bends and rolling hills ensure the experience is unforgettable for both driver and passengers.

Napa Valley Wineries

The jewel of the Grape State, Napa Valley is one of the world’s most renowned wine regions. In fact, in California, only Disneyland receives more yearly visitors! Just a hop away from San Francisco, a visit to Napa Valley is a great day or weekend trip. Enjoy tours, lessons and of course tastings at the region’s 400 wineries. The scenery that you’ll experience at the same time is stunning. After a vino-filled day, relax at the world-class resort or spa you booked at a discount with Triphop!

Death Valley

It may have a foreboding name, but don’t avoid Death Valley! This desert valley in the northern Mojave Desert is one of the most fascinating natural spots in California. In fact, it is one of the hottest places in the world, thanks to an unusual combination of factors. The dryness and heat create spectacular formations. These include the Badwater Basin’s salt flats, Dante’s View and Furnace Creek. Desert lovers can book an air-conditioned lodge for a weekend excursion. It’s also a great itinerary item on a winter trip, where temperatures will max out at that of a summer day.

National and State Parks

With more national parks than any other state, California’s interior is as beautiful as its coast. The world-famous Yosemite National Park offers fantastic hiking, rafting, and rock climbing. The views provided by this glacier-sculpted paradise are unforgettable. The redwood forest in Redwood National Park will redefine the notion of what a ‘large tree’ is. Lassen Volcanic and Pinnacles National Park, meanwhile, have some of the most stunning natural formations around. For those that enjoy the expanse of a desert, Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Parks are a mecca.

Disneyland Park

Walt Disney’s original amusement park continues to be one of the world’s most popular, and for a good reason! Its nine themed ‘lands’ each host a variety of rides and attractions. Disney stars like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are always on hand to greet the young ones, while there are ample dining and entertainment options for the whole family. There’s no road trip necessary: there are two hotels and a hotel and spa on-site, as well as many nearby options.

Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco

Along with the statue of liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge may be the most iconic American image there is. This man-made marvel was once the longest and tallest suspension bridge in the world, but with or without that title it remains magnificent. You’ll enjoy the sheer magnitude from a distance, but don’t forget to cross the bridge to enjoy incredible views of the bay. Don’t have a car? No problem – there are pedestrian and bike lanes as well!

Who Will Love A California Vacation

A Family Vacation in California

When you take a trip to California, it’s easy to find fun activities for the whole family. There are amusement parks galore, including Disneyland, Universal Studios, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Legoland California. There are an incredible number of museums throughout the state for some educational fun. A multitude of national parks and camping opportunities are a way to get in touch with the great outdoors.

Nature in California

There’s no denying the beauty of California’s beaches, but there is far more nature to discover. The beauty of the Sunshine State’s national parks includes dense forests, volcanic formations, and sprawling deserts. The Sierra Nevada mountains may have the highest peaks, but many other ranges provide beauty hiking opportunities. And the coast isn’t all about beaches. Rugged coastline areas like Big Sur and Mendocino coast are fantastic places to explore. For nature lovers, Lake Tahoe is a must-see.

Spas, Resorts & Romance

With a near-perfect climate and beautiful scenery, California is a popular romantic getaway. Indeed, you can pamper your loved one at a luxury hotel in any of California’s great cities. However, many romantics choose a California spa or resort as they are some of the world’s best.

Newport Beach’s The Resort at Pelican Hill looks to be a paradise straight out of a movie, while Laguna Beach’s The Ranch is next to majestic hills. San Diego, San Francisco, and Santa Barbara all have Spa Resorts dedicated to making your romantic getaway one you will never forget. And of course, when you pull yourself away from the beauty of your temporary paradise, fine dining and romantic excursion are just a click or call away.

Stay Active in California

For the fitness or adrenaline junkie, there’s no place like the Golden State. If you can swim, then you have to try surfing. Of course, the pros already know some of the best waves in the world are here. Any water sport you can think of is at your fingertips, as well as safe lessons for beginners. Los Angeles residents are avid hikers – with rolling hills and 12 months of pleasant weather, the state is a hiker’s dream. Urban and nature paths are waiting for the biking or running enthusiast. If you’re a thrill-seeker, you’ll be able to find activities from dirt biking to skydiving.
